History and Background of Board Match
Board Match was initiated by the National Volunteer and Philanthropy Centre (NVPC) in 2007 to guide and support NPOs to find Board leaders who can contribute significantly to their respective organisation’s vision and mission. In March 2009, the programme was handed over to Centre for Non-Profit Leadership (formerly Mentoring Partnership International), who continues to work closely with NVPC in ensuring the relevance and success of the programme.
CNPL also coordinates with MCYS (Charities Unit), EDB (IO Programme) and the Charity Sector Administrators in developing the Board Match Programme. CNPL also works with corporations and professional associations in maintaining a qualified pool of candidates.
The Board Match service is provided pro-bono to Charities and Non-Profit Organisations.
What happens after submitting your application?
We shall contact you in 5 working days to confirm your application and arrange for a short meeting to understand your needs. Following the meeting, we shall begin to source for suitable candidates for you. This process normally takes about 4-5 weeks. After the candidates have been referred to you, you may contact them directly to follow-up. CNPL strongly recommends that your NPO assess each candidate carefully on your own means (whether via sub-committees, interviews, etc) before absorbing them into your organisation.
Board Match is currently running on a referral system. CNPL does not endorse the candidates.
Testimonials from Charities/NPOs
"The introduction of a Board Match applicant who can serve as a Committee Member on our Board is timely. With his background, skills and network, I’m confident we can get things moving faster. We hope he will move on to serve as one of our Board Members."
- Mr Daniel Jesudason (Executive Director of an NPO)
"Since the introduction of Board Match in 2007, APSN has availed itself of this service in its bid at Board renewal and rejuvenation after grappling with this problem on and off for 33 years. Through Board Match we have been able to induct professionals with expertise in various areas such as accountancy, finance, human resources, psychological and therapy services and management to fill positions both on the Board and on the Sub-committees. I strongly recommend that Non Profit Organisations and Charities looking to strengthening their Board diversity and leadership to consider Board Match."
